Old Shrine

Old Temple of Shri Ramakrishna (1943)

In December 1943, a new temple (Old) was constructed through the munificence of Shri Mafatlal Gagalbhai of Ahmedabad and was dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna. A big portrait of Sri Ramakrishna painted by artist Sri Karunashankar Joshi in 1935 was being worshipped earlier in the old shrine room. This photo along with a newly sculptured marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna was consecrated on 11 December 1943 in the new shrine. The contributions of Shri H. A. Parekh, Smt. J. R. Kamdar and Sri Balwantrai Prabhashankar are noteworthy. The prayer hall was spacious enough to accommodate the resident students as well as devotees. Since then regular services like daily morning and evening prayers, Ramanam, Shivanam and Shyamnam etc. were being conducted in the new temple.
